  • I was on 3 west in one of the old wings and then we moved to the Hospital that we opened in 1981 ...... still Ortho ward ,,,then to Ops. Mangment the mail room lol ...Den 7th 1981 got orders to Fmss Pendleton

  • it's hard to believe that it's Army now

  • I worked as a Respiratory Therapist at NNMC Bethesda from Sept '91 to Jan '95 - I supervised the neonatal and pediatric respiratory programs - I made some amazing friends here.

  • I served there from april 1990 3 east maternity ward, then patient relations until discharge dec. 1991.
  • I was there from July 1980 to Dec 7th 1981 !!! Loved it

  • Hey Lindsey, Do you remember the little Master Chief that was our senior enlisted in outpatient records?  Called himself La Cockaroacha?  Also HM2 Mike Maloney?  Seen him in Naples Italy in 1985..He was an HM1 then.  Who else while my memory is still working.  Dayton Naugle (sp?)  worked in the animal lab.  Time's up!  Memory window just closed.

  • Completed EENT School at Bethesda in April 1973.  Our son was born there and I transferred from there to NH Orlando, Florida.

  • I did time at Bethesda from 73-74, I did less then three months on 5D and was put in outpatient records. I am sure your friendly nurse Ted was not the one I had when I worked ward 5D, she was in charge of multiple wards in that building - think her name was (at the time she was a LCDR) Garlucci or Carlucci or something like that. I remember the nurse on 5D - Mr Muse - he would take the pack of cigs out of your pocket and help himself. When I first got there I was in bldg 12, aka the Bethesda Hilton. Spent most of my time sucking beers at the em club.

  • Transferred from HCS San Diego Feb 1969. Assigned to general surgery, Ward 4C.  Attended Neuro-Psych school July-Nov 69.  Transferred to NTC Orlando, assigned to RTC, Recruit Evaluation Unit.  Transferred to Naval Hosp Orlando Oct 70 and became Senior Corpsman In Psych dept June 71 until discharge 4 Aug 72.  Great duty in Bethesda, worked for a wonderful charge nurse, she had us over to her house for bar-b-que dinners, great lady, wish I could remember her name!

Tom, you were there at the same time.  Did you live in the barracks across the parking lot from the hospital? A bunch of us used to go for beer down in Georgetown at a place called Brother Guss's, on Wisconsin Avenue I think.  Ever heard of it? I saw "Easy Rider" the summer of 69 at the theater in Bethesda.  Also, remember  the huge anti-war demonstration on Aug 69 ... I recall that we were restricted to base that day...  strange times.  where/when did you do Corps School?

Three Tours at Bethesda

Started my naval career at Bethesda in 1957 on ward 4-D (thoracic and general surgery) and the Delivery Room. Attended Laboratory School at Naval Medical School in 1962-63. My last tour was with the Naval Medical Exhibits program, attending many medical /dental conventions over a four year period, shipping and maintaining exhibits and audio-visual equipment.
