  • I was an operating room tech during 1968-1970. My boss was Cdr Thersa Proto.
  • Was there from 1990 - 1994.. Assigned to Patient Admin (LPO), Navy Liaison (LPO), Patient Admin Supply Officer, Med Hold (QA LPO)

  • I was there from Jan 73 to Dec 74.  Worked various places in the Outpatient Dept.  Lot of good memories.  Several favorites, one was being there to see the returning Navy and USMC POW's from Viet Nam; another was being assigned to escort an MOH recipient (LTJG) around the hospital for his treatment and seeing all the senior officers having to salute him.  To an 18 yr old HN, that was cool.
  • Went through EEG Tech C School there in 1979. Army medics trained with us. The Neurology Clinic there was the most impressive I have ever seen before or since. Alot of VIP patients. I did a test on a former Johnson Administration cabinet  secretary. Just another patient to take care of but I could barely move as I was setting up because of all the acolytes and hangers on coming around.

It was an amazing experience because here we just young people who were given a great deal of responsibility and the simple expectation to do things perfectly.

Three Tours at Bethesda

Started my naval career at Bethesda in 1957 on ward 4-D (thoracic and general surgery) and the Delivery Room. Attended Laboratory School at Naval Medical School in 1962-63. My last tour was with the Naval Medical Exhibits program, attending many medical /dental conventions over a four year period, shipping and maintaining exhibits and audio-visual equipment.
