  • I was assigned to R Division aboard the La Salle from 86 to 87.  Did alot of major of work/overhaul due to lack of repair facilities.  Had a lot of fun to.

  • I want to invite everyone to join the LaSalle Asssn. We have reunions every 2 years usually on the East coast. the next one is in Maine I believe in 2018. Bob Boucher and I started the Assn and have enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new ones. I think our treasurer still has planks from the well decks and some last cruisebooks. Talk with him, his name is Arnet Hagen our web page is http://www.usslasallelpd3.com/ join the Assn we would love to have you.

  • Served on the La Salle November 1978 to April 1980 RM3
  • Philly yards 2001/2

  • I was a RM3 aboard the LaSalle from Aug 1971 to May 1972. I was there when she was first painted white while in dry dock at Portsmouth naval shipyard. I was discharged just a few weeks before she sailed for the mid-east.

  • Onboard 1978-79. Longest & hottest year of my life (So far...)  EM3 and also supply PO for engineering. Sure was hot in the engineroom . Also worked with Creed putting up lights coming into port and he always volunteered to go up the mast (good man). Was there for uprising & evacuation of 260 people out of Bandar Abbas, Iran in Feb of 1979.

  • On board the LaSalle from 78 - 79, got on board about a week after an incident with a crazy gun boat from Ethiopia, then got off in Naples.  Lots of great port calls between

  • I was an EM stationed on the Lasalle from 9/76 to 9/77.  I met the ship in Subic after flying into Clark Field and left the ship in Naples.  It was a tremendous year that I still look back on with great memories of all the places we visited.  Due to my current work I have spent some time in Bahrain over the past two years.  Goodness the place has changed since they built the causeway.  I have met a few people over the years who served on the Lasalle at various times but never anyone from my term there.  It was announced in the Middle East last year that the base in Bahrain was about to get a 450 million dollar face lift.  We crossed the equator twice while I was aboard.  Sure was a lot more fun the second time.

  • I was on the old girl from May 93 - April 94. Loved it and Capt. Samar was cool.
