USS Piedmont (AD–17) was a Dixie class destroyer tender built during World War II for the U.S. Navy. She served Destroyers in the Pacific Ocean during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

I served on the Piedmont in the 70's, was in the foundry then, but I was a different person then, been a long time ago, but still have some good memories from then, before I was on the Samuel Gompers
I was attached only a short time to the U.S.S. Piedmont from 1980 1980 until the Yellowstone transited from California
Was on Piedmont 2 times first as a SFI in the Weld Shop Feb 1968-Oct1968 and then as a HTCS in the Pipe Shop from Dec1976-Jan1978
I served on Piedmont from 1967 till the end of 1969, three West Pac tours.
My first sea duty after being stationed on NAS North Island. Came on board in 1966,left for USS Chicago CG-11 in 1969. Was in deck force, boat deck division.
