  • I attended  boot camp from Aug.21, 1974 to Nov. 1974. I cant remember my company # but it was a Drill Team and we practiced a lot on the grass beside the grinder. We had  BMC Stone as CC and a Drill instructor Chief whom I cannot remember. Stone had a nick name as The Grey Fox and always had a scowl on his face. We were in Batt. 5 and he told us the first night where the hole in the fence was. Two recruits " riffs " took him up on it and Stone was right. They were captured within a day. He ordered us to sleep with our " piece " from the " whore house " and to write our mothers a letter. I was made a squad leader and once had to dry shave on the roof of the battalion wearing a bucket on my head. I think they called it hell week or something. All and all, it was a great experience that I would do over again.

  • Is Signalman Chief Colgate, CC of Co. 077 (1969) still around?  I was the one of four recruits sent from Los Angeles to the brand new boot camp in Orlando.  We were in Co. 072, then I was set back after a few days in the base hospital, and I ended up as the only California boy in the company.  Most of the guys were from Georgia and Louisiana, and a couple from Pennsylvania.  It was a bit of a culture shock at first, but we had some good times, too.

  • Attended boot camp from Nov 79 - Jan 80 in Company K020.   I was the RCPO.  Company commanders were PN1 Miller and OS2 Anderson.    Served with Anderson later on the USS Canopus.

  • I am getting closer to finding out my company number. (lost my Rudder) It was between CO36 - C038.  I was at Orlando from Nov. 79 - Jan 80.  We called ourselves 'Bad Company' at sports weekend.  Can't remember our CC's names but we had a chief that was kinda short but mean as hell (LOL)  and a first class that was tall, lean and had flaming red hair and beard. He was the one we were really afraid of. :)

  • wish we could have sub groups here based on company name and year

  • I remember one night, or rather early morning, when they called a fire drill for our whole barracks building. So all of us ran out into the Company Street in our skivvies, all milling around, sleepy. Then while we were still out there, unorganized as-of-yet, the female barracks across from us conducted a fire drill as well. It was funny as hell watching them trying to sort everyone out. If I remember, it took the better part of an hour. The Sun was just starting to rise by the time our CC's had us all sorted out and at attention while they chewed us all out - after the Battalion CO had chewed the CC's on both sides of the street.

  • Attended Orlando in April 87-June87  was in K062  CPO Gaddis and Po Enrique looking for others believe brother companies were c114,c115,c116

  • There was no NTC in 1969 when I was in the initial Co. 077.  The only guys that went to school instead of the fleet upon graduating were us Nukes and ET's.   I went to IC "A" School in Great Lakes, then Nuclear Power School at Mare Island, and the S1W nuclear submarine prototype in Idaho.  All this after being inducted in Los Angeles.  I never saw San Diego as a sailor until I boarded the USS Enterprise in 1971.

  • C053 JAN-MAR 1990 CC's BTC Atkinson and EMC Gooding

then JAN 1992 QM A school

  • Just missed you, I was there June/July 79 Co 134, PC1 Hall and MSC(Select) Curameng were my CC's.
