  • I was in RTC Orlando in March of 1971. I can't remember the company number or our cc's name. I remember we had a machinist mate cc that started with our company and he was replaced by a gunners mate. Our flag was designed by one of our own. I seem to remember it had POP -EYE on it. Anyone remember any of this.
  • I was in Company 336D Company Commander was SCMM Lalaine from 18 june 1976-late August 1976
  • I was in Company 422, Jan - Mar '75. TM1 Goodwin was the CC. Boot camp was a blur for me. Interesting to see how boot camp has changed over the years. My compnay carried old M-1s, but no leggings, and no duty belts that I remember. Remember getting in trouble with a inappropriate cadence song that a female CC took exception to.
  • I was in RTC Orlando from Feb 1975 to May 1975. Co 3205, and CO was ACC Bonnie Creamer. Those times were a blast and I would really like to connect with others from back then. My first duty station was a training squadron VT-23 in Kingsville Texas. It went like Orlando did. Gone....
  • I was at RTC Orlando in April of 83 C092. CC's Chief's Bejer and Boles. Left there went to NATTC Millington.
  • I was in Company 129,cc Cpo Chaplin from April 15th to June 15th,1981
    • I was in Company 058, Battalion 10.  I reported aboard RTC-Orlando on 19AUG75.  Our company commander was Petty Officer Darling (MM1).  Our battalion commander was a rough old lean and mean chief warrant officer whose name eludes me.  I remember when he and a couple of PO2s came by the barracks to wear our butts out during Week 1.  We were pretty sharp after that.  There was a guy named Cox who I ran into in Submarine School a couple of months later.  He slept in the rack above me during recruit training.  We later ended up in Submarine Group 6, but on different boats.  Another guy named Poole kept ripping us with an endless river of jokes.  Our RCPO was a lean guy from Texas who had a good voice for cadence and led well.  I remember his name was Mott.  The RMAA was a stocky guy named Peluso, high strung at times, but worked well with everybody.  I remember my parade rifle (piece as they were called) was stenciled 058 -- like our company number -- so it was easy to spot in the rack.  It was an M1903A3 manufactured during World War II by Remington Arms.  I still remember the 16-count manual of arms and my General Orders.
    • We were in the Zumwalt Navy then, so our uniform issue included the blue utilities and ball cap cover, more industrial than military looking, but definitely more professional than dungarees.  We were issued the summer working dress whites and visored combination cover with black shoes.  Sharp looking uniform -- until about 1100 when it started to look dingy.  The sharper looking winter working dress uniform with same combination cover was more usable.  The Navy dress uniform (Zumwalt or Z-suit) looked good as long as you threw away the issued dress pants that were cuffed an inch too short and you bought your own pants and had them cuffed right.  Facial hair was allowed in those days -- big mistake.  JMHO.
    • When we (Company 058) graduated, I left RTC-Orlando and went back to East Point, Georgia for a few days with the family and to be "showed off" by my recruiter, Chief Petty Officer Davis, a destroyer sailor who always said, "Don't join the Navy unless you want to go to sea."  Makes sense.  After that, it was Basic Enlisted Submarine School-Groton, Connecticut and the USS Ulysses S. Grant (SSBN-631) with alternating Atlantic/North Sea patrols and life in Charleston, South Carolina where I fished for red drum on the beach at night, rode my old 750cc Norton Commando motorcycle, and pulled duty on the boat or aboard Naval Base-Charleston.  It all ended in my third year when I was medically boarded with what the Navy called a muscular-skeletal disorder, sort of medical shorthand for "I don't know, but I think Its gonna get worse."  It did, but not before I retired from a long career in law enforcement that included assignment as an academy instructor and investigator for our department's office of general counsel, retirement from the state, and three years as a security specialist for the Department of Defense at MCRD-Parris Island with a tour in Al-Anbar, Iraq in support of I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Logistics Group, Multi-National Forces-West, OIF.  I am now teaching school at DOD Elementary and Secondary Schools in support of Navy and Marine families and their children in the Beaufort, South Carolina area.  I am married to a medically retired Air Force veteran and registered nurse.  We have a 12 year old son, senior Boy Scout and Presidential Honor Student who is from China, and who became a part of our family in 2003 at the age of 5.
    • I will try to get an image of me in the Navy as soon as I can scan and upload something.  In the meantime, that is me on the right the night I caught a Marine CH-46 Sea Knight out of Camp Fallujah to TQ and a C-130 to Kuwait before returning home during the Surge in 2007.
  • I was in Company 3025, Feb-April 1975; can't remember CC's name (PO 2); sister company's CC was ACC.  Anyone else there during that time?
