    RM2 Dees
I'm not sure PO2 Dees was a RM.

    Fond memories...
Enright making me laugh then came the push-ups.
Enright telling me about cow tipping. Then mooing in ranks.
Enright yelling "Ahoy, McCoy!" from the top of the USS Dry Dock.

Meeting Baugher in the hotel the night before.
Helping Baugher learn her general orders.
Baugher saving the top bunk for me.
    Baugher making me laugh.

Getting walking pneumonia in Orlando in June.
Watching our brother company replace their bunks which had been tossed outside.
Listening to our brother company get "cycled" to death below us.
    Falling asleep during everything.
Running in the gym just after they cleaned the bleachers with chemicals on rainy day.
Choir yoeman replacement almost getting me fired.
Doing push-ups because of my last name.
  • Actually, you can thank Former President Ronald Reagan and Former President George H.W. Bush for all the base closures. You can credit Former President Bill Clinton with letting the closures go too far.
  • Oh I know who to thank.. and as much as it pains me to bash on a Commander in Chief, I feel that he was one of the worst (present cic included) As I stated in my post, I was surprised that they scrapped the training ship. San Diego kept theirs as a museum. Its ok. I have my memories. Now if I could find a way to obtain copies of The Rudder (bootcamp) book and a copy of my company picture I will be happy. Thanks for your response, and congrats on your sons service and serving the world's finest navy.
  • Steven, You can thank former Pres. Clinton for all the base closures. I went with a church youth group to Orlando for a music recording project and we visited a nursing home one afternoon. A few men we there visiting their mother and said it had been cleared an condo's built and sold. The Navy now only has Great Lakes. My son will graduate on 03SEP09, but he enlisted on 13NOV08. It takes that long for the USN to process and train them now. BTW - I'm excited about putting on the old summer whites, anchors and ribbons for the ceremony for another sailor in the family... 3rd generation!
  • went to rtc orlando in sep 93.. started with i-137 and then was set back to i-149... went to orlando a few years back and saw the base was gone.. what hurt was that they scrapped the blue jacket (training ship). i figured they would have kept it up as a historical marker...
  • i went to bootcamp in sep 1993... looking to find shipmates formt hat time and see about gettinghelp to find the rudder and company pic... any help will be appericated..
