  I went to RTC Orlando bootcamp in 80. Gosh I am getting old. Seems like just yesterday I wa in Orlando having fun in Boot.

  I was in CO 041 November 1980 thru January 1981. CC's were BTC Bartley and SN2 Burkardt. Bartley was THE STEREOTYPE Navy Chief. Skinney, anchor tatoos on his forearms, deep groweling voice, and lived up to the saying "cussed like a sailor." Chief Bartley was a great CC. He was hard, tough, yet caring. This may seem strange, but I enjoyed marching the most. That is, once we got good at it. Memories of boot are a blur. I remember the lights suddenly coming on at 0400 and the empty steel trash can being thrown across the bay. And Chief Bartley yelling to "get up, and get on the line." Those were the days...

  I was in C208 14 AUG 87 thru 10 OCT 87. CCs were PO1 Nelson and PO1 Witherell. I recent'y (last week) went back to Orlando to see for myself what was left of it. Shameful that they didn't leave one thing, not one piece of evidence that it was ever there! Broke my heart.

  I was in K012, Division 4 alpha 3. My CC's PO1 Ward and PO1 Schneider, I was there from Oct 89 to Dec 89. I had a blast!

  I went through Oct-Dec 1974 Co 3159. Our CC was PN2 Walker. Best part was graduating on Friday the 13th! I turned 18 my first week there. Happy Birthday me!

  What a tough job. I trained 8 companies between 87-91. I was happy to make the impact required, and am quite sure memories people will never forget. I was brokenhearted to see the command given over to a civilian housing, after the many recruits trained. What a shame.
