  • Hi Barry. I was there the same time , we had 43 aircraft and only 21 was operational the the rest was lined up in the bone yard with no engines or parts. I was in power plants at the time and we had so many students no one knew what was going on. But it was a great sqd and great crew.
  • By the way, isn't it Navy FightER Squadron VF-121

  • I was a Pacemaker from May 1973 to Dec 1976, PN2, mostly worked the FRAMP office.  Fresh out of A School I arrived to an office as the 5th personnelman assigned to an office that had 3 desks and 2 typewriters.  I would muster in the AM and was regularly sent home by 10AM.  I was newly married and after a couple months of me getting home so early doubted that I was actually in the Navy.  This was just at the end of the Vietnam War and we were way overmanned.  I didn't pull any extra duty for almost 2 years, but by the time I finished my tour we were undermanned.

  • I was at VF-121 from Jun 1972 to Mar 1975.  I was in Personnel as well as ESO.  It was a great command and a great bunch of guys and gals.

  • I was in VF121 from 1974 to1977 as line div po and flight line troubleshooter po
  • This was my last Command. I checked in Oct, 1979 and retired the same Date the Trans Det. did 31 May, 1981. When I checked in I was assigned as the Safety PO for the Squadron and as time passed I became the Command Career Councilor, LIne PO and any thing else they needed until the last day. It was a great ride.

Line Div.

I was in VF-121 from Aug 68 to Feb 70. Made PC in 1969. Like most of all PC's I deployed to MCAS Yuma, Az., NAF El Centro, CA., QC deployments on Kitty Hawk, Constellation, Independence at NB Mayport, Fl. and  J.F. Kennedy at NB Norfolk, VA. On the Kennedy we had chill factor of -60 for the week. The harbor was covered in ice. I enjoyed each deployment.
