  • In answer to mickey doyle on Apr 29 2011, Hell, I was an EM2 aboard her too, from 1960 to1962!  And the association's web address is greatsitkin.org no 'uss' and no space between 'great' and 'sitkin'.  And why are there no comments after 2013?

  • I was on the great sitkin from 1966 to 1968.  I was in Hoboken.  That was a real fun time and would not want to do it again.  I was an RM2

  • if you were aboard the uss great sitkin in 1966 while the ship was in drydock in hoboken nj .i think we were all exposed to asbestos while we had to sleep and work on the ship when they were removing insulation.please get checked for meso.

Only 6?

Only 6 sailors on the USS Great Sitkin AE 17 roster in Navy Vets?  That's deplorable!  There is an entire USS Great Sitkin Association on the web: http://www.greatsitkin.org with some 100 Active members, that I'm about to join as well.  They have a reunion coming up in September, which I hope to attend if things work out for me financially.
