  • Mickey,May I call you Mickey? I was on the ship in 66 but don't remember about the Ammo? maybe because I was up top as an RM2.... Feel bad for George Morell, but I under stand what he is going through. The VA is doing the same with myself and it has been going on since the 70's. then they gave me a hard time stating I wasn't on the ship, couldn't find any medical records and so on I just gave up I had enough of the BS. Then things got worst and My Wife spoke to a friend and I try again but was denied now we have a Lawyer but I'm trying to find anyone that was on the USS Great Sitkin when I was, that might remember me... Unfortunately I was unable to fine anyone. enough of me How is things since then I have a lot to catch up on LOL!!

  • I read your note about being stuck on USS America and how you got there.  I was on the last boat to leave fleet landing that night leaving for America, that night it was so rough.  Guys sick on the pitching boat.  Not too cool.  We saw flares go up from another liberty boat in trouble on the way back. Then I heard they closed the landing for the night.  I remember it was hard to get on the ladder to get back on the ship.  Glad you enjoyed hospitality.  America was a good ship for me and I learned lots which I got to apply the following year in Vietnam on USS Constellation.
