  • Thanks chief!

The year you started active duty was the year I was born! After grduating from high school in 1978, I enlisted in June 1978 the Navy's delayed entry program and enterd bootcamp in August 1978. After boot camp, I was assigned to the USS LaSALLE AGF-3 out of Manamma, Bahrain and reported on board mid November 1978 and left the ship one year later December 21, 1979.

I was honarably discharged in August 1981 and made 3rd class SK3 in reserves. I PN Aed the exam but becuase I was getting out-was not promoted, and made 3rd class in the reserves. I went back in the reserves in 1990 after completing my BA degree in International Relations, and was offered a commission as an Ensign but had to agree to 2 year active duty committment to keep my commission which I replyed no thanks and rsigned in 1993-after doing almsot 9 years total service active and reserve.

But my fondest and most memorable times in th Nav was my first duty station onverseas on the LasSalle, between al the watches and GQ during Iran Crisi there was never a dull moment.

Fairwinds and following seas Chief! An tell your son-one heck of a website!
