  • Hey Tim, I remember the Med, I.O. West Pac cruise well. Had a great time snorkeling in Thialand on Christmas Day. Great Times!!!

  • Hi Tim, I don't believe that I knew your dad on-board our ship. I was on the USS Cambria, and sometimes it gets mixed up with the USS Canberra. But it sounds like you have the right ship because it was decommissioned i9n 1969 or 1970. The USS Cambria also had a collision-at-sea on 8 July 1969 with the USS Shadwell. -Smitty-

  • As you can tell from that pic, Tim .....Dave is not only "not the sharpest pencil"...He's the "ERASER"!

  • Tim we use to hang out at breakaway's and the Crystal Place out on Jax Beach.  Man you just brought back a ton of memories! You guys participated in Ocean Safari 1985 I have some pictures of the Jack Williams in port.  I took a ton of pictures of the ships while moored in Mayport.  I just have to find time to scan and upload in the near future.  Thanks for adding me as a friend!

    Jeff

  • Didn't work for the Stark.

  • I can't be sure but I believe the Navy is phasing out the CIWS anyway, replacing it with some sort of missile instead.
  • I remember the Jack Williams, I was assigned to the Fitch, FFG-34.

Weird that what I remember the most is that your ship didn't have a CIWS.
  • Welcome Timothy*
  • Timothy, thanks. That photo was actually taken in a bar in Barrio Baretta, Philippines. If your not familiar with that, it is between Olongapo and Subic City. I think the bar was called Baretta's. I was there in Jun of this year.
  • Hey Tim, go to www.ussmazamaae9.com and view our web site and sign the guestbook. Some one might remember your dad and the dates.
