  • Hey Susan,

I was stationed there from Jul "84" - Jul "87". Assigned to AIMD, W/C 400 Power Plant Shop.  My rate was AD and was a 2nd Class Petty Officer.  I served 10yrs which I had to be Medical Discharged because while on Deployment on the USS Coral Sea (CVA-43), I fractured my back (L-4).  I had three surgeries at Portsmouth Naval Hospital (PNH) so therefore I was unable to retire like I planned.

  • Hi.  Sorry to disappoint.  I preceded you as a corpsman at "Rosy" from June 1968 until June 1970.  It's designation at that time was Dispensary.  I noticed that you refer to it as a Naval Hospital.  Several years ago I was attempting to obtain my Navy medical records and at one point I spoke to a female, I think in St. Louis, who also was a corpsman who had been stationed at "Rosy".  I live in a somewhat rural area with many towns populations in the mere thousands.  A couple weeks ago I was in an establishment and in generally speaking to an employee there learned that he too had been a corpsman stationed at....you guessed it...Roosevelt Roads.  It too was after my tenure there.  I'm sure I'll be seeing that gentleman again and will ask for more detailed information;  and will pass it on to you if appropriate.  I've had no luck in finding anyone I was stationed in Puerto Rico with.  It's a shame what happened to the place even before last years hurricane.
