Wednesday 21Jun2017, Welcome aboard to NavyVets AO1 Rudolph Hoyt. Do you go by Rudy? But, WOW, an Aviation Ordnanceman. What a dangerous job you had, and in Vietnam War. I know it was dangerous because I was on the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz and I used to watch the AO's load and unload on our F14 Tomcats. I checked VF142 Ghostriders out on Wikipedia "the Navy’s first ace squadron of the war," i.e. Vietnam War. Impressive! Also, I too was at NAS Miramar, but I was a student at the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counselor School (10 week course) and then after graduation went on to be 1 of 2 Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counselors (NEC 9522) on the USS Nimitz. Lastly, your End Date of Service April 15 happened to be my birthday. In 1977 I was 24 years old and use had been in the Navy for less then 1 year (joined Aug 1976). In April 1977 I was at COMNAVAIRLANT, NAS, Norfolk VA. Now I am living just south of Norfolk in Elizabeth City NC. Thanx for joining NavyVets. And I hope you'all are having a great day. Just call me by my nickname "Cookie".
"WOW"! I was stationed at NAS Miramar from 1962-1964 with VF-124, VF-191 and VF194. I did two Wespac cruises from there One on the Ranger and the other on the Bon Homme Richard from North Island.
Welcome aboard mate we're glad your here..
