Pretty sure there is a JFK Command on here for you to join. ALSO check out the "Enlisted Men's mess" and where you went to boot camp. We have both San Diego and Great Lakes. Don't know if there is an IC command....MAYBE Doug will MAKE ONE!!!
LOL!! You had to go way up on top! One of the first things I had to do after reporting aboard on Hector was lay down on top of our overhead bridge crane and be moved all around the shop overhead to clean the light fixtures. It was about a twenty foot drop to the deck and the beams in the overhead passed over me just an inch or so of clearance! We had eight big lights and they were hot! And I had a wet rag to sticjk up in the lights to wipe out the soot and dust with. Scared the crap out of me doing that!
Yes, I have had a few "career changes" as well. Been everything from a Molder to a track and undercarriage specialist for Caterpillar....
This site (Navy Vets) is EASY to get used to. I have been here for several YEARS and i have just plain given up on those other sites (Haze grey and under way, Hull Number.com, We were vets, ETC.ETC...) as those sites are too difficult to use, had a mixture of ALL branches at one time, some even COST to be on them. This one is IT for NAVY vets!!!
Just take a little time to get used to the where stuff is and how touse it and you will do OK. You can tell a "newby" when they don't know how to flip a picture so it shows right side up. ( Sorry, but there ARE a few on here who WANT help, but don't ask for it.
Hello! Thanks for the nice comment. Yes, it was a small and very difficult rating to get into, and there were only about 600 Molders in the entire Navy. It was not one a lot of people even knew about as well. A lot of people would say, "A MOLDER!!!?? What the F**K is that????" I heard it a lot. Welcome to Navy Vets!!!
