  • Chief, Glad to hear from you. In those days we called it the "Branch Hospital" it had a Military ward of mixed enlistees, medical, surgical, and behavioral too., The hall way was for retirees and officers. The was an ED, lab, and a Obsterics or family ward. The morge was in back. Admin. was in the forward hall,. Pharmacy was jus next to the entrance past the "Quarter Deck or what served as it. I served B.A.S and field tours an all of the above... So when were you there, Chief? Would be nice to trade notes.  Again very happy to hear from you.. I am still a medic civy side... 36 years now.

  • guess a lot had changed from  1960-1977 when youi were there.  I loved that base.  Hated to hear that it had closed down. I've alwys wanted to return to that place it was so beautiful and tranquill there.  When I left Barbers Pooint I went to a tailhook unit in San Diego at Miramar got lots of shipboard time in with  a lot of Wespac cruised .. I finally settled in  San Antonio, texas

Thanks for the welcome.  Just as a note, I was stationed at NUMI as an Instructor also (from 1984-1986 or thereabouts).  Last duty station was USS Shenandoah in Norfolk.  Again, thanks for the welcome.  Saw you were with the Marines.  I did a tour with Kilo 3/5, Ist MarDiv in AnHoa (June 69-June 70).

  • hi Chief,

The drop down list did not include any Navy rank, only Marine, so I use the corporal rank and added HM3 in the comments.  I see you were in Camp Hansen for a while.  Hope we left it in better shape for youthan we got it.
