I do know that they closed the base. Guess they decided since the protests about the target range were increasing it would be easier just to give up.
Since I never served at any other base I can't compare it with another, but that was great duty. Looked at Google Earth and could still see some of the buildings that were there in the early 60's. Also saw an interstate highway running by the base. That certainly is quite a change since you took your life in your-own-hands when you traveled the local roads.
Things have changed so much I wouldn't want to visit now. Would rather have the old memories.
