Hi Dawn,
I got there in June 1986.
Ironically enough, I used to LIVE in Titusville, FL when I was stationed at Cape Kennedy! I moved to Pt. St. John the following year though (in 1991). I was at the Cape from 1990 - 1993 and then back in Jax, FL (Cecil Field) in 1997-1999. When I was at the Cape, I was also over in Orlando at least 6-7 times a month and used to just spend the weekends over there instead of driving back & forth.
If you go the the fishing/bait shop around the corner from Harry's Hotdogs (if it's still there), you'll actually see a pic posted on the wall of me with a huge 8pt Whitetail that I took down there just North of Pt. St. John (off of Kings Hwy) and just South of Titusville (the "swamp" area adjacent to the Airfield) between A1A and I-95.
Funny you should ask though as I was just talking with an old shipmate of mine that still lives in Pt. St. John and we've made plans to get together in September when I'm coming down to visit & attend a wedding.
Question? Is Dixie Crossroads still there? Is the food still as good as it used to be or is there possibly a better place (that you know of) that we should go for seafood?
Take care .... small world, huh?
Best,
Jim
