"I served on a Gator Freighter (Spartanburg County LST 1192) from 84 to 88 and was caught up in one of the first phases of of the Gulf War but it seems that the government doesn't recognize anything prior to Aug 92.

Welcome Aubrey, "Persian Gulf Veterans", Paul Barger's group ! I was in the Persian Gulf, when I was aboard the Destroyer USS Fiske DD-842 a 2200 hundred pound Class Destroyer ! They melted in down and it id way so different. Dating myself here, a 40 year old TRAPPED in a 68 year old body, Still in good Shape, even though 100% SCD.

I was involved in the six day war. I went to the Gulf via the, "SUEZ CANAL", it was interesting !! So, I'm a ditch salt too. The wild thing was I ended up with ship tied up @

the "Island of Bahrain", 1967. Keep in mind at this point the 5th Fleet Had "NO" real Naval Base. (That I was aware of ) ! Now, the 5th fleet is @ Bahrain, dig this. While we where there, "NO" Liberty CO's Orders, Communist Country !! China products, there + Others, I guess. Eventually, He let us have Liberty ! A look back, Whoooaaaa !! I end up training in Coronado,CA SPO'S. The strange thing is while we were over there the Temp was a constant 140-150 degrees. I know this doesn't help you out, but 1968 BIG DIFFERACE !! In The NAVY !! Well Welcome aboard !! A bunch of good people here !!
