  • Al, I was company 911 Flag Team also. Maybe we need to start a Flag Team group. I really had a ball going to the fair, Ball games, and Parades. We liked our CC MMC GORE so well we donated $800.00 to him as a going away present to help him put a new engine in his Scout. I read your comment on Glenn Kamppi's site as he is a fellow Molder. Great to know a fellow Flag Team Member.
  • Al, yeah we went through some pretty intense stuff! Remember when our RPO1 went UA? Funny thing was that he was raised in military schools and academies! Then there was John Latham, the SEAL. BT1 Rogers challenged him to a fight, but Latham backed down, as he didn't want to go to the brig. I've run into several of our old 919 buddies over the years. Rick Thornberg, who was one of my best buddies in Boot Camp and then while at NTC, was killed in a motorcycle accident in San Diego in 1978 I think. We had some good people in our Company and of course some real knuckleheads. I wonder how many of us went on to finish 20 or more years. I had 2 periods of broken service, but finished with 25 years total active duty, including Reserves and National Guard. Anyway, good to hear from you, Al. Take it easy!

  • Welcome Aboard Al! Thank you for your service during The Cold War.
