U.S.S. ENTERPRISE

HERES TO THE XO  NOW SKIPPER OF THE BIG E, ATTABOY, I SAY THIS BECAUSE I FEEL THAT THIS VIDEO WAS MADE IN HUMOR AND YOU DID SAY SOMEONE WILL GET OFFENDED, WELL THE THE NAVY IS FULL OF CRY BABIES FROM OFFICER ON DOWN AND NOW THEY GOT SOME NEWS PAPER DOING THE SAME, MY SUGGESTION IS THIS, LET THOSE IN THE MEDIA GO OUT TO SEA AND WORK AROUND THE CLOCK FOR 8 MONTHS AND SEE HOW WELL YOU LIKE BEING THERE, ALIITLE HUMOR GOES ALONG WAY, AND I AM SURE THATS ALL IT IS HUMOR, AND I FEEL THE CAPTAIN SHOULD GET HIS HANDS SLAPPED AND MOVE ON.

  • Jim, I think it would suffice if we if we speak with the "web master" and arrange a simple slap on the hand instead! But, one has to ask "What you knew" and "When you knew it" to decide if more drastic action is warranted! :-0
  • let the media and civilians who are craying about this pull up there pantys and go do the job ! if they don't like the way we are do it. And we all do thing that we think are good at the time that turn out bad after it over and do with

  • the media would have been really embarreses if they saw what went on during crossing the line ceremony and to my knowledge some ships have done awy with that tradition, that has been part of sea going navy way back when men started going to sea, what happens at sea should stay at sea, that way no land lubbers get their feelings hurt.and if you dont like what you see dont watch it. GO NAVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Well, that settles that! Relieved of command! Yes, it was humor. But, there is the question of his decision making ability. To be dumb enough to have his performance on video for all to see.....makes one question. Just the few clips seen on TV seems to be just a tad over the line. Especially these days!
  • AS PER MY COMMENT, I HAVE TO SAY THIS, YES IT WAS FOR HUMOR FOR WHAT THE XO DID, AND NOW HE IS GETTING THE RAW END, WELL I GUESS ITS OK FOR COMMEDIANS TO SAY INAPPROPIATE WORDS ON TV. OR THE RADIO, AND SUCH MEDIA, WELL LETS LET THIS SAILOR HAVE HIS FUN, BECAUSE THATS ALL IT WAS FUN, FOR THOSE IN THE MEDIA WHO DISAGREE WITH THIS GROW UP.

Spent 36 years in the Old Navy and served on 4 ships, including an aircraft carrier. This uproar is just another indication of the "New Navy's" political correctness (Enough to make an old salt sea sick). Personally I would have welcomed ...an XO with a sense of humor. All of mine had to be the bad guy and wear the black hat so the Skipper could be the good guy and wear the white hat. Give the guy a break. Being XO on a carrier is a tough job. He gets my kudos for keeping his sense of humor. For all of those who are and were offended . . . "Get a life".
  • The XO and now Captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise was definitely off base in his humor!  He was trying to bring humor to the crew during a long deployment where they are working long hours. He should have realized that this was inappropriate material! This was a few years ago when this incident occurred! I believe that he has learned and will be a better Captain for it!

Did the CO at that time know about the video? It is hard not to know aboard ship what was broadcast so I say yes! Only a few weeks ago a person would have been thrown out of the Navy for being gay and the government isn't saying sorry for that!

Keep the Captain on the U.S.S. Enterprise where he belongs!

  • Political correctness is as out of control as Congress! The media likes to take a minor subject and turn it into another "Watergate"! They are not happy unless they are unveiling some dirty little secret! Ironic how this story about a video made 4 years ago suddenly surfaces at the same time they do away with "don't ask, don't tell"! However, they should offer classes at the Naval Academy on "How to write and record a proper disclaimer"!
