Hey everyone and Happy Thanksgiving. I'm new to this and am putting together a display case for my wife. Her uncle was in the Navy for 20 years and past away in 1984. His wife moved away from our area and we lost contact with her. We found an address for her and learned that she past about a year ago. Her neice said her husband destroyed all of his military papers and she sent us a couple of his medals. I was able to over the internet request a copy of his dd-214 papers. I was hoping someone would help me understand what his rank was. I know his was in the Attack Squadron 85. On the paper his rank has AMH 1. What rank is this? Thanks for all that you do for this nation.
It's been a long time, I retired in 1992. I believe that is an Aviation Structural Mechanic (hydrolics) First Class Petty Officer or E-6. Most they were stationed at Aircraft Squadrons and Aircraft Carriers. I hope this helped.
