There should not be a single vet that is homeless while we have housing sitting and rotting that could serve very well as temporary housing for those who have served!
As an example, the former Alameda Naval Air Station! Houses and barracks galore, sitting empty and no other use that the city can come up with right now! I mean come on now! How stupid and ignorant are the politicians and the military leadership and the VA?
It's a crying shame! There are closed bases all over the country! There are housing units all over the place!
What will they do? They'll "give" them to the localities that will sell them to a developer to build a new big box store!
OR
They'll tear them all down and create a "park" that the homeless can camp out in!
There needs to be a loud and deafening scream into the ears of the powers that be!
TAKE BACK THOSE BASES!
TURN THE HOUSING OVER TO VETS!
LET THEM FIX THEM UP!
LET THEM HAVE THE BUILDING TO TAKE CARE OF!
LET THEM SHOW THE GOVERNMENT WHAT THOSE BASES ARE REALLY WORTH!
These homes have a use! They have a purpose!
