"we started out at camp barry, then they moved us to the old wave barracks at camp lawrence, place hadn`t been open in years. the whole of great lakes was packed, must have been building up for nam, i suppose."

"i was in company 430, graduated 15 october  1965. we got out there on about 26 august  plane from boston with a stop at jfk on the way. you probably graduated  1 or 2 weeks ahead of me. graduations were on fridays, as i recall."

"i wass out there in january of 2005 for my son`s graduation,took my wife and 2 daughters, 4 tickets per recruit family. some of the old yellow brick barracks on the camp porter side were still standing, but the brig and most of the other stuff was…"

USS Talbot County LST-1153

USS Talbot County (LST-1153) was a tank landing ship (LST) built for the United States Navy just after World War II. The lead ship of her class of only two vessels, she was the only U.S. Naval vessel to bear the name.

"i served on the gen. hoyt s. vandenberg in 1969 as a second electrician.the chief engineer`s name was corcoran. we hit pearl harbor, adak, yokosuka, kwajellien etc while i was aboard, as well as spending a month or 2 off the kamchatka penninsula.…"

me and my son in 2005, he was home from os"a" school. after the regular navy, i was in the reserves as a seabee, hence the 1st class builder insignia on the jumper
