USS ORION was the sixth FULTON - class submarine tender and the second ship in the Navy to bear the name. After almost exactly 50 years of service, the ORION was both decommissioned and stricken from the Navy list on September 3, 1993.

"Yes its legit but you still have to print out a form and snail mail it to the Natl Archives for signature verification. We have always been able to do that with just an old fashoined letter request."

Hello Ron.  I was never stationed on the USS Hunley, but we used to tie up to her at the end of Pier Charley at NWS-Charleston (actually, Goose Creek).   I was  aboard the USS Ulysses S. Grant (SSBN 631).  Of course, we had to cross Hunley's quarter deck to get from the boat to the pier.  I noticed that it is your birthday.  Happy Birthday!   Hope all is well, and hope to see you around more.
