  • That must have been the aerial drop,test able, the second test baker was strung underneath one of the Japanese Battle ships, My dad said when they got the all clear to turn and look it was in three parts high above the mushroom cloud. I have to old black & white photos of both tests I will scan and post in a few days     

  • A guy I was stationed with told me he was on watch on a Destroyer when he call to the bridge "Captain, your not going to believe this, there is a red battleship on the horizon". It was the battleship Nevada to be the bulls-eye for the atom bomb test.  I understand they missed and hit a submarine, perhaps this one.  I was a kid and went aboard the Nevada in drydock at Long Beach to visit my uncle and they were painting it red at the time.
