  • Its still Newport ,for some reason I had Providence in my head as that's were we flew into. They say the docks are deterioating and only have about 8 years left. The Navy let a $8 million contract to clean up Forrestal for sinking and Saratoga is still on museum hold but I don't think anybody can get it. Its just too big of an expense to do the museum thing and I know with Forrestal, when it was trying for the museum in Baltimore they said there would be $10 mil. worth of work just to get started and that was using alot of volunteer labor etc. I think Sara will be sold for scrap - the Navy wouldn't lose $ the way they did by leaving Forrestal on museum hold since '93. Its a shame - it would be nice to have a modern carrier somewhere as a museum. The Intrepid and Lex are O.K. but I'd sure like to walk around the Forrestal for memories !!
