Chuck, I am assuming you mean Terry's February trip to SD? May be we should all draft him into checking on what's happening with the Recruit while he's there! There has been no news for some time!
By the way, here in the North it is a little cooler, sub zero temps!
Terry, that be the mess deck on the USS Slater in Albany, NY She is my "post active" adopted duty station!
I am truly sickened by what has gone on there at NTC! If we could only get a bonified veteran organization to pick up the cause. There is one in SD that tried. But they ran into a lot of blockades! (http://www.quarterdeck.org/) I believe there is a good lawsuit there against the developer, MacMillan. They made millions and continue to not meet the requirements of their responsibilities!
I wonder what will become of the remaining few buildings they haven't raised yet! Like , the old CPO quarters.

We are headed back to San Diego for the month of February. Unless a group of volunteers touched-up the Recruit, it's going to look worse than it did a year ago, it will continue to look like and eye sore for San Diego and the U.S.A. Navy.
Before we know it, their will be absolutely nothing left that is vintage and original. I called and was informed that they did receive enough contributions to repair the flag pole in front of the old Command Center. I will reserve comment on that one!
Just a POI. I missed seeing the U.S. Navy Museum the was promised to be made in the original text of the closing and re-alignment of NTC and RTC. The statement was officially cited in the original proposal but, apparently having another Artisan venue continues to be more important.
Sorry but, that's the way I feel about what is not going on.

Just checking in with you. I have been offline for a while. Cold down here in Louisiana. In the 20's today. Give me some details of the trip to SD.
JL, I have to admit that I have been UA for a while. I was not a part of the decorating crew!
I hope to be aboard for her cruise down river to the drydock in February!
I am sure there are sailors in the modern, sensitive Navy that have a "flair" for decorating! hehehe
