NAPS is located on Naval Station Newport in historic Newport, Rhode Island. The Naval Academy Preparatory School is the Navy's fourth oldest school; only the Naval Academy, Naval War College, and Naval Post Graduate School are older.

USN Ret. on September 19, 2008 at 9:17pm - I was selected to head up USNS,A&CP ( NAPS) in 1963 while the XO of USS Hoel DDG- 13 and the school was still located at Bainbridge, MD. Spent 2 years as the O-in-C and then sent up to U.S. Naval War College where I earned a MS from George Washington University in 1965.
