On the last Friday of the month (except for July), an organization called Roll-Call holds a gathering at the Family Life Center at Birchman Baptist Church.  Veterans and their families are invited.  Roll-Call feeds the veterans for free.  Non-veterans pay $15 for the meal.  In addition to the meal, Roll-Call has speakers who present information of interest to the attendees, for example, veterans benefits.  Roll-Call also honors/recognizes veterans from the past (in particular the few remaining WW2 vets), paying tribute to any who have passed away since the last meeting.  I attended the meetings in May and June and would estimate that there were about 300 folks in attendance.  In addition to the presentations, there is also a lot of good natured trash talking between the various branches of the military, especially between the Air Force and Naval Aviation.  Good times.  Birchman Baptist Church is located at 9100 N Normandale St, Fort Worth, TX, near the intersection of I-30 West and Loop 820.  Search the internet for Roll-Call to find their website.
