In a report made public today, the Department of Homeland Security warns that the recession and the election of President Obama are "fueling resurgence" of right-wing extremist groups that are seeking new recruits, especially returning veterans.
The intelligence assessment suggests that veterans make attractive recruits because of "combat skills and experience" that could boost the "violent capabilities" of radical right groups. Further, it says that any possible new restrictions on gun ownership, combined with vets' trouble reintegrating into their communities during a bad economy, "could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks."
Read the entire story at USA Today, VA Watchdog and read the letter The American Legion has sent a letter to the DHS.
What can we do to stop this ridiculous, senseless classification of those who have paid so much to this country?
You need to be a member of Navy Veterans to add comments!
Brothers and Sisters, Isure would have never expected to be called a " Right-winged Radical Undesireable Extremist " but I sure heard it yesterday on the one eyed monster. Just for being a Patriot, loving my Country, and being a Veteran. How low will they go? They wonder why you cop an attitude with there dumbasses. Did you like the way the other major news channels covered the Tea Party, showing Obama and his Family playing with thier dog on the front lawn. BIG NEWS.
I saw one sign that said, in the Atlanta crowd," I'm here and this time I'm unarmed! "

The dog coverage is proof how the media slobbers over this family. What next? Will they cover what toilet paper brand he uses?
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said this morning on Fox and Friends that an apology is owed and that if she could rewrite one portion of the report, it would have been the section on Veterans. I look forward to hearing an actual apology.

Her apology is nothing more than hog-wash. IF she truly meant it, then she should have stepped up to the podium the very day the manifest was released.

I agree with you Tim! Apologies after the politics don't mean much.
EXCLUSIVE: U.S. failed to use best radar for N. Korea missile
Gates refused area commander's request
Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates denied permission for the U.S. Northern Command to use the Pentagon's most powerful sea-based radar to monitor North Korea's recent missile launch, precluding officials from collecting finely detailed launch data or testing the radar in a real-time crisis, current and former defense officials said.
