proud to have been aBT

was in the navy from 9/76 thru 9/96. Sailed on the iowa nashville (twice) coral sea yellowstone and uss belknap as sixth flt flagship stationed in gaeta, ITALY. proud of my naval service some things I would have probably done differently but I would do it all over again. I thinkthe worst time was when charleston naval yard was doing a prav to the belknap in 1990 and two boilers were torn down desert storm started and us BTs had to find all the fasteners and internals (tat were not marked) and had 24 hours  to be underway with all 4 boilers on line. what a job that was and also standing watch up forward during all of this. As they say though all good times come to an end because those of you that dont know as of Oct ! 1996 all BTS became MMs with a boiler nec code. a flang head im not. I was one of the last BTs to retire on the day before because you on ly kept your Bt  designation if you were to retire within the next 18 months. the one thing i would like to have kept was thge poster from naples italy that said snipes heaven wont have us and hell was afraid we would take over. just thought i would post something today since i just found this site today
