Agent Orange - Mazama AE9

Hello!

I'm Carl M. Bonner,  Bonner SN/BM3 to my shipmates & friends aboard the MAZAMA AE9.

I was on board from Dec. 1967 to Aug. 1970 when we decommissioned her.

We were in Vietnam in 1969.  We made 1 trip to Camaroon Bay and 1 trip to DaNang Harbor. We rearmed offshore in sight of land.

I'm looking for any shipmates who can remember and testify

to a working party involving me and 2 or 3 more Seamen, a winch

operator, 3  55gallon drums and our 1st Lt. Vadinsky.

Time is of the essence.  I've been fighting this fight with the VA for

several years and my time is about to run out.

You will be talking to my son, daughter or my sister if you answer this

because I am not only 99% blind, but also computer illiterate.

Thank you very much,

Bonner

  • Can't help much. A lot of aviation guys in my squadron had to go ashore to DaNang for aircraft repairs and there were no orders involved. VA won't consider evidence other than something in writing such as travel orders. Don't know why there were no records kept on situations such as that. Try to locate the deck log of the ship. There are a lot of veteran groups, you just have to search them out. That Cameroon Bay is most likely Cam Rahn Bay. Ex: The deck logs of the Coral Sea have recently been posted on the Coral Sea website.
