USS Samuel Gompers AD-37 Reunion

The USS Samuel Gompers 2010 Reunion will be held at Circus Circus Hotel & Casino in Reno, Nevada October 1 - 3, 2010.Circus Circus is offering us a Military Reunion Package which comes with several options for a 2, 3, or 4 night stay in either a regular room or mini suite based on single or double occupancy, and the room rate includes the cost of our Meeting Spaces in the Carson, Truckee, Tahoe Rooms, a Banquet Dinner on Saturday evening in the Mandalay Room plus two drink tickets, and Continental Breakfast served on Saturday and Sunday mornings in the meeting space. (Reno locals not staying at Circus Circus, use the Hotel Reservation Form to pay for the Banquet) You must use the Circus Circus Reservation form to reserve your room.Reunion Registration fee of $25.00 per person attending will cover adminstrative and logistical costs (gee dunk and refreshments) to put on the reunion.Early Bird Check In and Registration will begin in the meeting space Thursday, September 30, Dinner on your own, and we will have a cocktail hour meet and greet.Friday, Check In continues, Dinner on your own, and we will have a Slide Show Presentation and cocktails.We have two optional tours planned, a Luncheon Cruise on the MS Dixie II at Lake Tahoe on Saturday 0900-1530, and a tour of Historical Virginia City with lunch on Sunday 0900-1500. Register for the tours on the Reunion Registration Form.We will have a 50/50 raffle plus door prizes at the Banquet on Saturday Evening...let us know if you have something to donate as a doorprize.There will be a non-denominational Memorial Service on Sunday Morning at 0800 to honor our departed shipmates.Monday Departure, optional breakfast get together at the Circus Circus Buffet.Hotel Reservation and Reunion Registration Forms are available at http://www.samuelgompersreunion.org or can be obtained via snail mail upon request.     Yesterday was the deadline for registration for the Reunion, and a few people have been asking if it's too late to register. It's not too late!

    Just go to http://www.samuelgompersreunion.org and print out the two forms you need. You will see on the registration form there is a late fee of $30.00 until end of August, and past that will pay the at the door charge of $35.00 The reason for the penalty charge is because I really need a good head count before I order the Gompers schwag and pay the tour company next week.

    I will waive the extra five dollar fee for everybody who gets their registration forms in by Friday August 6...those who wait longer to register will pay $30.00 instead of $25.00
    You can still register for the tours until the end of August, but I can not guarantee a seat on the bus for anyone who waits longer...it will be on a case by case basis.

    Some of you had asked who was going to be attending the reunion, you can see a list of those who have registered at Reunion website (the link I posted above.) Right now we have about 80 people that are definitely attending, and about 24 people signed up for each of the optional tours. So it looks like a good number of folks are going to be just hanging out and catching up with each other in the meeting space.
