  • Tiny Tim I belive was the victim of the screwdriver thieving crab. Yes I remember Pork Chop........There was this red headed wave that hung around the barracks as well.
Remember when Senior Cheif Billy Ruth swan drived off the barracks poarch in Rosie when the Army was doing some kind of TAD there. Damn near broke his neck......If it wasn't for the bottle of rum he had consumed.......
  • I re-enlisted for six years and changed rates to AQ (from AMS). Went back toi VA-42 for shore duty (TC4C shop), and then back to Memphis for more school. Transferred to VF-142 with 11 mos left in my enlistment. Was LPO on the Line (I guess I came full circle). It didn't matter what they offered sailor of the year, ride in a F14, nothing was going to keep me in. Looking back now, I should have at least stayed in reserves for the last 10. Went to work for a company in upstate NY (Universal Instruments Corporation) worked with them for 23 years and just got laid off April 30.
  • wow,the floodgates are open now.Paison,I'd recognize anywhereJohn Stempfle, how the heck are you?I,ll send some messages as soon as I get a little time.
  • Who was the guy that burned the crap out of his hands in berthing on the 78 cruise when somebody put gunpowder out of a cad in a bunk post?
  • I can't believe you guys remember that screw driver stealing land crab. I can't remember what I had for dinner last night, but these stories stay with you forever.
  • Paison, speaking of Haiti, do you remember the liberty launch getting stuck on a reef or sand bar or something, and the jr officer in charge had us all moving from the front to the back in order to rock the boat free. Not to mention it was in the middle of a downpour.
  • Kent, don't ride at all. My wife took this picture when we were in Hawaii on vacation.
  • paison, your good.... church key and pork chop. How in the world can you remember such detail? Who was the wave that george risher married? I think she worked at the chow hall. Was she pork chop?
  • yeah the statue was a sight most of that stuff we got from Haiti went overboard...and yes I was still laughing about the crab who stole the screwdriver..and Kent that chick was well built with a nose that looked like a "church key"...who remembers that wave they called "pork chop"she's the one they caught srewing on the frozen meat in the meat locker at the chow hall
  • I remember when Lamancusa got that huge wooden indian chief in Haiti. That thing looked like a corpse in the rack with a sheet over it. Unfortunately it was infested with fruit flies and he had to give it a proper naval burial
