USS Shenandoah (AD-44) was the fourth and final ship of the USS Yellowstone (AD-41) class ship of destroyer tenders. AD-44 was the fourth ship to bear the name, USS Shenandoah as named for the Shenandoah Valley.

  • general info. USS Shenandoah was removed from James River in November 2014 for scrapping in Brownsville TX. Both she and Yellowstone have be scrapped.

  • I served aboard the USS Shenandoah from 1985 - 1988

  • Served onboard Shenandoah from 1986-1988 in Medical Department.  Dr. Ryan was physician.  Radiation Health Technician and in charge of Active Duty Sick Call.  Retired from Shenandoah in 1988.

  • i was only on her for a short time but i loved the ship jan 90-oct 90

  • I was a DC-man stationed on the USS Shnandoah from 1993-1994 in R-1 division in the carpenter shop.  I came onbard with DC3 Wandemburg.

  • I was sationed on the Shenandoah from 1987 to 1990 in the Data Processing Dept.  Back then my name was Ivory J. Carr DP2
  • My name is Nora Herr and I was stationed onboard from 1990 until I retired in 1993. I worked in Personnel and then in ESO.
  • I worked in Deck Division 2. Would love to hear from anyone and/or everyone.
  • Is she still anchored up in the James River waiting to be scrapped out?
