USS Providence (CL–82/CLG-6/CG-6) - a Cleveland-class light cruiser was the fourth ship of the United States Navy to be named after the city of Providence, Rhode Island.
What a Great Ship
I served aboard the CLG-6 from Dec 1967 Through January 1969. I will never forget her or the crew.I was in OL Div then became a Hospitalman striker and worked in sick bay.

I was sent to the Providence from Sabana Seca, Puerto Rico as a Communications Tech. When I came aboard, via Helo, I was made aware that this wasn't shore duty any longer. Great bunch of guys. Two barbers who I can't remember their names were great people. Terry Herbst, Pat Bowers and me were the unofficial 3 musketeers.
