  • I was on the 599's blue crew from 1968 - 1970, then was on the "motley" crew for the trip from New London to PSNS (Bremerton, WA) via the Panama Canal for a yard period. I was an RO and was leading RO by the time we went to the yard.  I qualified in 1988 on my first patrol.  We were usually a NATO boat and patrolled the Med prominently.  Transiting the Straight of Gibraltar was always interesting.  Hello to my 599 shipmates!

  • Hi.  Rode the Henry 63-68 both crews and it's first overhaul and missile change. Great times.  I maintain a 599 Crew listing (1000+) at rontini.com/599crew.html and a page at rontini.com/599.htm.  I was with Jimmy below in the Med.  The water played games with our chemistry and other problems.  Next reunion in 2015 at Groton.

  • I qualified on Patrick Henry, June 1964. A great Boat with a great Crew. I was so fortunate to sail with such professional people on my first Submarine assignment. Patrick Henry is the most special memory of my Navy Career.

  • Josey, I never served on the Patrick Henry, I was a Tin Can Sailor (DD 872) (DD 861) out of Mayport. We were in GTMO for training in 65 or 66 and the Patrick Henry was tied up across from us. A friend and I ask the OD if we could come aboard and look around and to my surprise he gave us permission. We got a tour by one of the crew, mess decks, quarters etc. I couldn't wait to get back to the Royal (DD 872) it was so LARGE compared to your boat.
  • I made one patrol on her in January 68 Gold Crew to the med for 67 days submerged. Interesting day when the nav officer shut down SINS2 and the master flipped. Didn't know where the hell we were for several hours.
  • Served aboard the 599 Blue Crew '62/'65
