  • Hello Shipmates!  I was stationed onboard Mt Whitney from 12/79 to 03/83.  As a Yeoman, started out in the Admin Office, then after about a year, attended Paralegal School and became Legal Yeoman... Love the ports that this Flag Ship visited.  Never realized how good it was until I got stationed on a smaller ship - USS Thomas S. Gates (CG 51);  but enjoyed my tour on both commands.  Hope to meet up with fellow shipmates someday..!

  • Hello to everyone, I was part of ships company on The Mount Whitney from 1986-1988. I worked in Comm center as a RM3. I enjoyed my time in the Navy and I'm proud to have served on board The Mount Whitney.
  • I remember about this ship being a part of a major operation in the Straits 1987 while I was onboard the USS MISSOURI BB-63. This operation saw a Huey crash with Seals Onboard-no survivors.
