  • I agree Fred.  I'll try to drum up some members, especially as I was connected with the Bagley twice, once as staff for Commander Destroyer Squadron-17 and once as the Command Master Chief.

    Let's see what happens.

  • There is a Bagley group on Facebook and I think that's why it's not as active here. I sent a request to join the group and it sat for a month with no action by the admins, so I'm not really so sure how active they are. I had intended to mention the group here too. I saw a few members from when I was aboard. It IS frustrating that this group just isn't taking off, though. The Bagley was our home for such an important part of our lives.

  • We need to figure out how to get more members into this group.  I get emails from GMGC Matthews all the time and I don't understand why he doesn't join.  I was back on the Bagley for three years as the Command Master Chief, from April '86 to September '90, about a year before she was decommissioned.  The 3-M coordinator relieved me as CMDCM as no one would get a full tour after I left.  If you or anyone else can think of a way to enlist more members, let's talk about it and get it moving.

  • Thanks, Ski! I remember about every time you guys came aboard. Command would get so uptight that everything worked and looked perfect and that we wouldn't say anything to you guys. One time there was this old man in coveralls who came to the enlisted mess during a visit and had lunch with me and my buddies. Great guy! Turned out to be the Admiral, HAHA! We were absolutely shocked that he wasn't wound up as tight as our Skipper (A CDR.) Years later, as a mustang officer in an Army Brigade Combat Team, I understood the difference, lol. Glad to have you aboard, shipmate!

  • I was on COMDESRON 17 at the time you were on Bagley.  I remember you from the many times I was aboard.
  • I joined the crew of the Bagley in April of 1976 and served as an ICman in E-div. aboard her until Nov. 1979. During that time we won 3 Excellence awards.
