  • Everyone, I am going to ask that this site be closed. I made this page so that other landing craft veterans could connect with me and share stories. I have been voted out of the NACVA (National Landing Craft Veterans Association) for recruiting vets to my web site (actually this page). I am sorry if anyone got the idea that I was in competition with the NACVA. I will let you all know that you can join the NACVA by going to www.lcusailor.com. It is a very worthwhile organization. They have a great membership and reunions every couple of years. Thanks to everyone who sent me messages and got into this group. You are all great veterans in my book.

  • I was sent over with the first big group to Da Nang in fall of 65. Mess cooked until the boats started to arrive - first assignment was a Mike 8. Went on to my first boat as craftmaster as E3, made E4 shortly after that.

Spent 3 tours on every river in I-Corps plus several side trips to 'Gilligans Island' and some other places. Was the second boat to enter the Cua Viet river in the summer of '66, ran the 860 at the Liberty Bridge for a while. Served in Hue and finished up in Cua Viet until July of '68.

Been living back over here on the south central coast for the past 9 years.

  • YFU 57 & LCU 1492  both out of Literage @ NSA Danang hauled as far north as DongHa and south as far as SaHuynh bMay 69 thru May 70. I remember Ron Olsen, Dusty Goodrich, Steve Blankey, Driscol, William Kennedy, and a lot of faces I can't put names to.

  • LCU 1619, 1969 out of DaNang RVN

  • I joined LCU DIV 13 in Yokosuka in 4/63. Returned to Coronado in 9/63 when soon thereafter, the DIV was restructured and out came ACDIV 1. Have been back to Amphib base two years ago when 1500 was memorialized, a boat I was on many times before her demise three years after my transfer. Would love to know if any of those guys from LCUDIV 13 are "out there" ENS Tony Siegle

  • I was chief Engineer Riv div 594 and Engineer Lcu 1637 before she burned back in the 70s at Acu 1

  • Michael Donnelly, I was Engineman 2nd class aboard LCU 1475 Dec67-Dec68. Knew a lot of the guys on the 1498. Tony Rodolosi was the Engineman during Summer of 68 and I can't think of the name of the Craftmaster but he was a real nice young tall Boatswain Mate think his name was Bob. The 1498 & the 1475 went to Subic together for overhaul in 68

  • I was assigned to small craft NSA Danang as engineman third class  oct. 68 / nov. 69.  Was assigned to lcm 6 / 8 boats then LCU 1498 then sent to the YFU 73 as chief enginer for the remaining time in country. after leaving Viet Nam i was sent to Roosevelt Roads Puerto Rico where I was assigned to the TRB 4 to work the weapons range in St. Criox
