  • Your situation sounds very simular to mine, I also was a deck SN who didn't like standing watches and I was also approached by the SKC instead of the SK1.

  • As a deck force SN not really looking forward to becoming a career BM, shortly after joining ship's company of my first ship the chief Radioman approached me and asked if I'd like to become a RM. I told him I'd like to think about it, and would let him know the next day. Either later that day or the next morning the lead SK1 asked me if I'd like to Join his office. When I mentioned the RM job he said "you don't want that sh*t", those guys will be standing underway watch while you'll be in your rack asleep. As much as I hated standing watches, needless to say I became a Storekeeper! I left the ship as an SK2.

  • Glad to have you aboard Thomas

Where are the manifests?

I'm a Vietnam War Veteran and would like to know what happened to all the ships manifests during that time? These documents could be invaluable in helping our Blue Water Navy Veterans suffering from the effects of Agent Orange that may have been transferred from shore to ship. Also chemicals like PCE, TCE and benzene. Would like your help. Thanks.

Aviation Storekeeper

I noticed when I signed up that there is no Aviation Storekeeper.  While we did normal storekeeping, we also dealt with SMIC's for weapon systems and platforms.  Also, the rest of the storekeeping business was pretty normal.  Long live the DD1348 (6pt).  LOL  Would like to see other AKs here.  We were with tailhook squadrons.  I know it was consolidated some time back with SK.  Can that be changed?
