I was just going thru some of old papers and I noticed a Warrant for my Arrest and it was the charges that was listed before I was sent topside and kiss the belly of the King Neptune, I just about feel over, it was dated June 1955. It is going up next to my Certificate that I was a shellbackJack ButlerYN1 USN RET

How well i recall the Shellback festivities and the initiation. I have my Shellback crertificate framed and hanging on my ( Navy Wall) As i approached King Neptune on my knees i tried to ease up to his big fat belly filled with grease and soot from inside the boilers. As i neared his belly i got pleanty of assistance from behind,as the Kings Court members pushed my face into King Neptunes big fat dirty belly.. I was a BT (Boiler Tech),little did i know that some of the soot from cleaning the firesides was saved for the Shellback initiation. The date was 13 March 1965 aboard the U.S.S.Bordelon DD-881
