I was in Boot camp August 19, 1971. Company 278. CC was BMC Jones. God, I hated that man! After I graduated, and got my 1st ship, (USS Southerland DD-743) I learned to appreciate all he had taught me. I later went on to a 20+ year career, and retired in 1992 as a 1st Class Boatswains Mate! (go figure, right?) Be glad to hook up with anyone who recalls

They sure do, my friend. I've only reached one of my shipboard friends from so long ago. I guess at our age, the number of friends that are alive, are rapidly dwindling.
