  • MSC station at Rodman as Food Service Officer and BOQ , BEQ manager 1977-1980. One of the best station I was at . Many great friends made there. Living in Plattsburgh NY

  • Made the transit on USS Pargo (SSN-650) in 1985 while changing home ports from Groton CT to Bremerton WA for overhaul

  • Transited several times while TAD with a FMF force in the late 70's.

  • I was stationed at navcommsta Galeta Island near coco solo in 1970-1972

  • We went through the canal in 1970 on the USS Wainwright DLG-28, en route to Vietnam.

  • I passed thru the canal during a Unitas cruise on the USS Borderlon DD 881 out of Charleston SC in 1974

  • Passed thru the during a Unitas cruise on USS Mahan DDG-42 late 70s out of Charleston SC

     

  • crossed several times 1979 & 1980 During Unitas xx & Unitas xx1

  • USS IWO JIMA LPH2.  We went through the canal when we changed homeports from San Diego to Norfolk in 1972.

  • Proudly served aboard USS Jasper (PC-486)homeported  at Coco Solo and Rodman Naval Stations from June 1956 to May 1959.

Points of interest in the Canal Zone

Military pictures I was stationed in the canal zone back in 1967>1970 at the COCO SOLO Naval Station (Atlantic side)  which was suport for a Naval Security Group Activity named Galate Island.   There are a bunch of older pictures at the above link .I'll dig out some other links to the mess that place has become in the near future and add them as we go.
