NTC RM 'A' School.

NTC /RTC San Diego, I was in Company 369 graduated Nov 72. Then on to RM "A" school on NTC. In boot, I never got to go on the USS Neversail. I had a disagreement with another recruit and broke my hand on his skull. So I was on light duty till I graduated. After RM "A" school, I was stationed at 32nd street DATC/FMAG command. And that is where I finished my enlistment. Never went on ship (except to visit friends) and never got to see any foreign ports of call. I was cheated!

  • No no no...you are confused JL! The 'best looking" recruits did not go on board the Recruit because "we" were all in the "special" companies, like the flag team, band and choir! After all we were the ones on display all the time! I think they let the ones on the Recruit be the ones they thought would never see a real ship! So, give em a taste of it anyway!

  • Trevor, it had to be something to do with when we went in! I never got on the Recruit either! After Corps school and being at Balboa, they shipped me back to near my home on the East coast! If I remember correctly, I was always being told to forget about sea duty during my first enlistment! There wasn't a second one!

You went down to 32nd at the same time i was up the hill at Balboa! Do you remember when the Kitty Hawk came in after the riots on board and they had arrested a whole bunch of the crew?

    • I do Jim. For a while we didn't know what was going on. We heard everything thru the grapevine. No one ever said anything officially.
