  • Navy Career 1957/1981 Was in and out of Charleston Shipyard and Naval Weapons Station on four different ships during my career. 

  • I am from Charleston, South Carolina. I joined the Navy in 1959 and retired in 1979. I live in Elloree, South Carolina now.

    Effective 10 June 2013 the state of SC is making a special license plate available to all active duty and retired US Navy Chief Petty Officers in South Carolina.  Note: This plate is available by mail only.  Please use the two required documents linked below.

    The plate costs $60 (for two years) plus the regular registration. Proceeds from the sale of this plate will be distributed to Patriots Point Foundation and used to preserve the heritage of the ships and displays of the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum in beautiful Charleston Harbor. This plate is available by mail only for cars and trucks only, no motorcycles.

    SCDMV documents to apply for the plate  There is an MV-37 form and a letter of eligibility.  You can fill in the forms from your computer, then print, or print a blank form and fill in with pen.  If you have any questions, please email them to Patriots Point Foundation  with "SC Chief's Plate" in the subject.

  • Stationed on the USS Dewey DDG-45 LIved In Peter Gordons Trailer Park out near the old Red & White 1979-1980 loved to chicken neck for blue crabs hang out were the Fleet Reserve Club & the Jokers

  • I am new to this command.  My submarine operated for a while out of NWS-Charleston back in the mid-70s.  I was honorably discharged at the nearby Charleston Naval Base (now used by Military Sealift Command, U.S. Coast Guard and other government agencies).  I presently live in Beaufort, SC with my wife who is a registered nurse and Air Force retiree, and our 12 year old son.  I retired from state law enforcement and later worked as a Defense Department security specialist with one deployment in Iraq.  I am now a school teacher.
