  • I went to HM School in Great Lakes Illinois .. March-August 1972.  We had a gang . that had good times there at the Rathskeller and where the drinking age was 18 in Kenosha at Hardman’s and another bar that treated Navy guys well and in Racine too.  We rarely (once) went to the Enlisted Club on mainside GLNTC. Although I did visit my boot camp buddy Barry Moffett on mainside a number of times.

First station was Philly Naval Hospital .. attended Pharmacy Tech “C” School there and assisted with Navy POW’s return.  Also worked at PNSY dispensary pharmacy for six months.

Transferred to Mechanicsburg PA Ships Parts Control Center (now NAVSUP WSS) to run they pharmacy for final 14 months. Read a lot of books!!

  • I went to "A" School in Great Lakes in 2009, then went to Fleet Medical Training Battalion in Camp Pendleton in 2010. I was stationed at Naval Hospital Bremerton from 2010-2012 and Naval Hospital Rota from 2012-2014. Never went on any deployments.

  • I went to Hospital Corpsman "A" School in San Diego in 1984.  I served as a Reservist for 12 years.  I was affiliated with Reserve units attached to NAVHOSP CHERRY POINT, Fleet Hospital, NAVHOSP PENCLA, and a Marine Corps Reserve unit out of Baton Rouge, LA.

  • I went to my A school at Great Lakes in 1984, I went to 8404 training at Camp Lejune in 1984 before being assigned to Naval Hospital Orlando Florida emergency room until 1986 when I was transferred to Camp Pendleton assigned to echo 2/1 until 1988 when I got my honorable discharge! I re-enlisted for 2 years to be ships company on the USS Fort Fisher LSD 40 and I got my honorable discharge in 1991 when I was hired as a Medical Technical Assistant (MTA) with the California Department of Corrections and I retired on my 50th birthday in 2014! I am curious if there is anyone here that served during some of the same times as I did
  • Michael Marquette: Yes, Mary was a great nurse. She was on the day shift when I worked on Ward "N". Our wad docs were LCDRs Klofkorn and Davies. Ran into Dr Klofkorn 3 years later at Balboa and even a few years later I ran into Dr Davies back at Bremerton. Had a lot of great days at Bremerton and even more when I did reserve duty there and the new hospital which was dedicated in 1980 or 1981. I hated the night security duty when you to do rounds throughout the compound
  • USNHCS 10/6/67-2/1/68  SAN DIEGO

I WAS STATIONED AT NAVHOSPBREMWASH MARCH - OCTOBER 1968 THEN ON TO VIETNAM.  I WAS ON WARD N WHILE IN BREMERTON AND MARY BOEHME AND I BECAME GOOD FRIENDS AS A RESULT OF WORKING TOGETHER ON THE NIGHT SHIFT.  SHE WAS MY MORAL SUPPORT WHILE I WAS IN VIETNAM.  WE STAYED IN TOUCH AFTERWARDS FOR SEVERAL YEARS THEN LOST CONTACT.  I REMEMBER CAPT. BROWN. SCOTT MCCREEDY, LCDR, WAS WARD N MEDICAL OFFICER.  WHILE I WAS

VISITING A FRIEND FROM BREMERTON IN KALISPELL, MT, HE GAVE ME A SURPRISE MEETING WITH DR. MCCREEDY AT THE HOSPITAL THERE.  THIS WAS IN 1991.  IT IS NICE TO HEAR FROM THOSE FROM MY NAVY DAYS.

  • Richard Doggett: I was stationed at Bremerton in 71 until Feb 72 when I transferred to Naval Dispensary, Seattle with Captain Roy Brown who was previously at Brememrton. He was one hell of a great CO there in Seattle while he was by the book in Bremerton.

Wonder if you knew nurse Mary Boehme from Ward "N".

Also Tony Morrell, Jerry Sobrero, Tom Burn, John House, Wally Mattern, HMCS Lau, HMCS Coombs and many others
  • Hi Fred, The HMCS Dahlke I knew was William (Bill) Dahlke.

I recall the name of Captain Hunter during my time at HCS San Diego but, don't remember if he was current or former CO at that time.

Fleet Marine Force Service medal/ribbon

The Navy has yet to recognize the FMF service of thousands of Grunt Docs who have served side by side with the Marines for generations. In 1984 then Navy Secretary Lehman came out with an FMF ribbon but only for FMF service after 1984.The Navy should either recognize all of us Grunt Docs or none at all; choosing only those whose FMF service was post 1984 is a slap in the face to PRE-1984 FMF Hospital Corpsmen.FMF Ribbon service post 1984.gif
