Boiler Fate

Wanted to be a deisel Mechanic and got stuck in the boiler room and have been loving it ever since. Assigned to DDG-7 from 77-81. After fireroom and oil shack. Got out and have worked for Hartford Steam Boiler ever since.

Still love what I do and dealing with boilermen who still know how to get things done.

  • Mark: My 4 years in the hole, plus class "A" BT School set me up in a career for life. When i left active duty, went back home to Detroit. The following Monday i went to the Employment office of the Ford Motor Company River Rouge complex in Dearborn looking for a licensed stationary engineer to sign for me to write for my license. The rest is history. I got hired into the power house and stayed there untill i retired in 2007 with the title of General Foreman. I miss the smell of the steam plant, and still love the old steam locomotives.
